ART EXHIBIT AT
YONKERS RIVERFRONT LIBRARY

The Yonkers Riverfront Library will host an exhibition of “Prototypes for Arts, Crafts and Designs” by local artist Marie Brooks in the Yonkers Room from January 5 through January 29.  The intent of the exhibit is to show the progression of an idea or thought to a product, and that possibilities are as limitless as one’s imagination.

Born in Baltimore, Marie Brooks is a 27 year resident of Westchester County and lives in Yonkers.  She works in social services for the City of New York, and enjoys working in mixed and multi media. “It allows one the freedom of artistic expression with the available resources at any given moment”, she said.
Marie has a BA degree in Elementary Education from the University of the District of Columbia, an Associates Degree in Fine Art from Westchester Community College, and a Masters Degree in Counseling and Development from Long Island University.  Marie says an attempt is made consciously and most often subconsciously to include these areas of specialty in her work.

The exhibit will be on display during regular library hours.  An opening reception will be held on January 5, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Yonkers Room Gallery.

The Riverfront Library, located at One Larkin Center across from the Yonkers Metro North Railway Station, is handicapped accessible.  Free parking is available for three hours at the nearby Buena Vista Garage.
