“FROM DIZZY TO SONNY”
PHOTOGRAPHER NOEL BRANDEL
TO EXHIBIT AT YONKERS RIVERFRONT LIBRARY
The Yonkers Riverfront Library will host a photographic exhibit by Noel Brandel from January 3rd to January 29th in the Atrium. “From Dizzy to Sonny” will feature photographs of legendary jazz and blues musicians taken over the past 20 years, and is dedicated to the memory of jazz musician Michael Brecker (1949-2007), the foremost tenor saxophonist of his generation, who lived in Hastings-On-Hudson, N.Y.
Noel Brandel grew up in the Bronx, lived in New York City, and is now a resident of Dobbs Ferry. “Looking at the world through my camera and freezing images is a perfect way to document memories”, he said. “As a photographer of jazz & blues I listen and try to capture the personality, emotion, intensity and spirit of the artist in my photograph. I want the viewer to feel the warm, human quality and harmony that is jazz or blues in each of my photographs.”
Noel’s work has been exhibited in the Lower East Side Community Workshop, Dobbs Ferry Artwork, The Upstream Gallery in Dobbs Ferry, The Dobbs Ferry Library, Cabrini Nursing Home, The Warner Library in Tarrytown, and the Picture Book of Greenwich Village.
Riverfront Library is located at One Larkin Center, across from the Yonkers Metro North Railway Station, and is handicapped accessible. Free parking is available for three hours in the nearby Buena Vista Garage.
