Groundwork Yonkers and the YDWBID cooperatively created a joint memorial to the Yonkers victims of the World Trade Center attack on September 11th, 2001. Tom Minnozzi (below) installed a plaque positioned near the contemplative bench in the Sculpture Meadow on the Hudson's southwest corner so that viewers can see where on the Manhattan skyline from Yonkers the WTC towers once stood. Also installed were 23 brass stars to commemorate the 23 citizens of Yonkers who died on September 11th. A plaque in honor of Capt. Frank Kendrick, who died while saving a woman from drowning in the Hudson River on September 11th, 2002 will also be installed.
