Yonkers Riverfront Library will present a free screening of the unforgettable documentary film Swim For The River, about environmental activist Christopher Swain’s historic swim down the Hudson River. Meet Chris Swain who will be on hand to answer questions about the film, and to talk about his current project, a thousand mile swim down the Atlantic coast from Massachusetts to Washington, DC.
Chris braved whitewater, sewage, snapping turtles, hydroelectric dams, homeland security patrols, and PCBs to swim the entire length of the Hudson River to raise awareness of environmental issues affecting this beloved river and to show how ordinary citizens can and do make a difference.
Along the way, Chris and his crew met people from river organizations, citizens of the Hudson Valley, and famous people, such as folk singer Pete Seeger, who share their experiences and talk about their battles to protect the Hudson River.

This free event will be held on Saturday, December 5th, at 2 pm in the Auditorium.
