An event of cultural & gastronomic interplay!

at the Philipse Manor Hall.

During Food in the Time of Thanksgiving, our activity will be three-fold!

From 12 - 1 p.m., we will learn the historical preparation of several foods, accompanied by a historical narrative that will help elucidate the ingredients of and cultural beliefs behind certain dishes.

From 1 - 2 p.m., guests will join the staff for a jaunty food and thanksgiving themed house tour.

From 2 - 3 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to sample historical autumnal/winter foods that might have crossed the plate of previous residents of the Hudson Valley.

You'll learn the foodways of the Dutch, Native Americans, the English, Africans and the places in which these cultures overlapped gastronomically.

This program is $5/person, and children under age 12 are $3. If you would like to bring a canned food item for donation, you will receive a reduced adult admission of $3. RSVP is appreciated.
