Play It Again, Sam

For many of the artists in PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM (Save, Adapt, Manipulate), the box, in all its permutations, has become the container of symbol-laden choices each has painstakingly assembled. Other artists mount objects free of container constraint on stands or walls, delighting the viewer with the inventive use of found materials.

In one instance, the artist's eye recognizes art stumbled upon in the environment, and captures its essence in photographs. Yet, each creation invites the viewer to complete the works by finding their own "stories" in the complexity or simplicity of combined objects. By Arlé Sklar-Weinstein

FROM NORTHERN WESTCHESTER/UPPER WESTCHESTER: Take Hutchinson River Parkway South to exit #11 (E. Third Street) make right at traffic light. Keep straight until you reach So. 1st Ave. Make right turn onto So. 1st Ave. Go two blocks the Library is on the left, in the middle of the block.

FROM CROSS COUNTY PARKWAY: Take Cross County Parkway East to Exit #7(West Broad St.). Make left turn onto Broad Street), go one block to Gramatan Avenue. Make a right turn, continue on Gramatan Avenue through circle to the bridge at E. 1st St., make a left turn go 2 blocks, and turn right onto So. Second Ave. The Library is on the left, in the middle of the block.


FROM SAW MILL RIVER PARKWAY: Take Saw Mill River Parkway South to Cross County Parkway East to Exit #7 (Follow directions for CROSS COUNTY PARKWAY)

FROM SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER

BRONX RIVER PARKWAY: Get off at the Oak Street exit, turn right, keep going straight to Mount Vernon Avenue, at the fork bear to the extreme right, from R.R. bridge, and turn lift at light onto E. 1st Street.(a.k.a. Vaccarella Blvd.). Continue to South 2nd Ave., and turn right onto So. 2nd Avenue. The library is on the left, in the middle of the block.

MAJOR DEEGAN EXPRESSWAY: North to Exit #4 (Cross County County Parkway East). Take Cross County Parkway to Exit #7(Broad Street) (Follow directions for CROSS COUNTY PARKWAY)

THROGS NECK BRIDGE: Stay on 95 until you see a sign for the Hutchinson Blvd. Parkway North. Take the Hutchinson River Parkway to Exit #9 (Wolf's Lane, Mount Vernon and Pelham. Make a left turn. At the 1st traffic light turn left towards E. 3rd Street in Mount Vernon. Keep straight until you reach So. 1st Ave. Make right turn onto So. 1st Ave. Go two blocks the Library is on the left, in the middle of the block.

WHITESTONE BRIDGE: From the Whitestone Bridge, bear left at the sign for HUTCHINSON RIVER PARKWAY
